Hartmut Roth
Hartmut Roth is an experienced Timing Expert and Executive Leader that has over 30 years’ experience in companies at the forefront of Timing, Telecommunication, Energy, Transport, Defense and Global Navigation technologies.
Hartmut Roth obtained a Degree in Biomedical Technologies from the University of Applied Sciences Jena, Germany.
In 1990 he joined Ball Efratom Europe (a Division of Ball Aerospace) in Munich. That company developed the first miniature rubidium atomic clock. This small and low weight Rubidium Atomic clock made Global Satellite Navigation a reality. Hartmut was Ball Efatrom‘s R&D Manager in Munich. This team developed the first commercially available precise GPS Timing System with nanosecond timing accuracy.
Hartmut remained with the original Ball Efratom company through the acquisition of Datum Inc. and the merger with Symmetricom Inc. Symmetricom became the global market leader for Synchronization and Timing products and the global OEM Synchronization & Timing supplier for Ericsson, Alcatel, Siemens, Nokia and many other telecom technology leaders. Hartmut was VP EMEA, Managing Director Symmetricom Europe.
In 2013 Symmetricom was acquired by the USA’s Microsemi where Hartmut became VP System Sales EMEA. In early 2018 Microsemi was acquired by global chip giant Microchip Technology Inc. where Hartmut remained as Head of System Sales EMEA until he left in July 2019.
Since that time Hartmut has focused on being a telecoms and PNT subject-matter expert consultant and mentor for new companies that he believes have technologies which will be transformational for the future of mobile communication and PNT markets.
